Do you happen to know if that kit wil fit a GS?
It is not listed in the accessories brochure.

Which I pod is it and how much was the kit please?

How complex was the install? and how mcuh is the kit?
Just had all the centre dash to bits to fit the Garmin without much trouble - Did you have to take the steering wheel off and remove the speedo? (looking at the audio connectivity instructions on the Landrover site)

Had more trouble uploading photos to this website than fitting the 660!
Seriously, the unit is hardwired (of sorts!) in and functioning as expected with absolutley no signs of any wires anywhere, I'm really pleased with the end result. I can pull it in and out (removed the suction cup and bolted the holder to the cubby hole) so it is easily removed or not as the case maybe! Just need to find / manufacture a foolproof cover to fill the void to keep prying eyes off! Any ideas would be gratefully accepted!

Onto the ipod next!
Found the info I required in the accessories manual Cypress will have a go after Xmas (if I can wait that long) so any snags you identified on the way, tips would be very welcome.

Im just about to buy the 660 but Im just checking why you got the 660FM rather than the 660T?
As far as I can tell the only advantage of the FM is the fact is has an FM transmitter so you can get the sound over the FL2 audio.

How come you didnt buy a T and choose to take the audio jack output of the Garmin and hard wire it to the audio loom?

Scott - if you are about to buy check out http://www.pentagongps.co.uk/garmin-c22.html which is where I got my 670 - seem cheapest around. They have the 610T for £168 the 660T for £212 and the new 710 for £244 which seems to be same as the 610T but with a new case design, internal (non flip-up) antenna and some updates to the nav software - wish I'd waited for these new models myself

btw I have no affiliation with the site selling this except that it is local to me (run out of the parts department of a nearby Toyota dealer) and it's where I bought mine.

As well as the FM transmitter which you mentioned, the Garmin website states that the 660 speaks street names (e.g. "Turn right ON ELM STREET in 500 ft.") which the 610 / 710 doesn't (only "Turn right in 500 ft." etc). Maybe not worth the extra cash but personally I've found the reading of street names coming up useful when in congested areas as helps keep eyes on the road (or speed cameras ).

Forgot to mention that the 660/670 fits just fine in the dash hole with no mounting required (see my gallery for a pic) until it runs out of power.

Thinking of fitting a Nav unit too - does unit still pick up satellite signal ok in dash compared to screen mounted or do you need to add gps cable/receiver?

Works fine buried in the dash. I guess that the signal is not as good compared with mounted on the screen but not checked as it works! Obviously this is for the Garmin units - no idea about Tom Tom etc but think there are other posts elsewhere if you do a search.
