Wise choice Dave. Obviously not the cheapest vehicle to tax or run but according to the LR bloke at the experience day, it is vastly superior to the D3 you have been used to. Mostly due to the twin turbo V6 diesel.

Whilst we are all out of snow until next winter, (bar parts of Scotland it would seem) go find some nice flood prone roads when it rains. I did recently and it was good fun, especially when the BMW 5 series could not cope and turned around Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Cheaper than the D3 and soooooooo much nicer to drive on the road, that extra 300cc & 52bhp makes all the difference Cool ______________________

Excellent deal. I bet you wish you could stretch to what is surely the greatest vehicle ever made:

That was a good deal indeed. I presume you had a D3 HSE? I heard some negatives about that outfit, but who cares if the money is right.

Might give the dealers a bell myself. I am in the same position as you, but have been debating doing a webuyanycar sale and adding to it to buy a new D4. Wouldn't mind a deal like you got, there's a few reporting favourable conditions for doing a D4 trade up. That said, the D4 is really a D3 facelift and I think LR will have a revamp of the D4 in the not too distant future.

Yeah I know thats the cry, but in essence both vehicles are very similar. I had a D4 for a week and didn't notice the engine was more powerful or quieter, but then I don't hash my cars to the red line. The dash was updated, the centre console, the steering wheel, that sort of thing. The middle row and the boot were exactly the same bar the seats being a little different design. Externally, it's just the new style rear lights and front end. From the side, it's the same again.

Dont get me wrong, I'd like to upgrade to one, but it's like the FL1 facelift, which could have been called a FL2 by all accounts, that said it did make me buy one, whereas I wouldn't have entertained the old model.

Anyway, I was looking at the T&C web site. I see they had two D4's XS for sale. Very nice, like you it's the black one I'd go for.

It's that Black one I bought Cool

As for not noticing the extra power and quieter engine, then you must be driving like "Miss Daisy" Laughing, certainly is a big difference between the two cars. ______________________

Damn, I did wonder! I am not keen on having a white hairdrssers car, so the other ones out.

I have seen some 2.7 D4's but I wonder if they wont suffer on residules.

Yes, I do drive like Miss Daisy, but hey, diesel is costly and I am not in a hurry.
