Small Rattle in Drivers Door - Annoying!

Hi,
I've been the proud owner of a FL2 for a week now Smile ... and the honeymoon period is now over as i've started to hear an annoying clunk/rattle from the drivers door area Sad! Its OK for now but not too long into the future and i'll be throwing the door off into a skip Smile Its not necessary loud but its JUST ANNOYING as i hear when driving along a normal road surface!!!

Many years ago i had a similar problem on an Astra SRi and it was the door hinge pins that needed changing.

Has anyone else had an issue with an annoying clunk from the drivers door and was it fixed???

I'm off to the 'stealer' on Monday with the reversing sensors not working so i was thinking of adding the rattle to the list (of warranty items)

Cheers for any help,

In over 3 years with my 07 SE I never had any problem with noise from the door and I don't recall anyone mentioning a clunk on here.

There have been instances of reversing sensor not working or sticking on in the wet, usual dealer response is to replace the offending sensor if they can confirm there is a fault.

There have been problems with a tapping noise from the bottom of the a-pillar, it sometimes sounds as though it is coming from the door. it is a known problem and easily fixed under warranty.

Knocking from drivers door area

I concur with John -Boy had a similair problem with my 08 GS, which would knock when I braked and accelerated, or went over a speed hump or pot hole, according to the dealer, the problem is caused at the bottom of the driver A-pillar where different materials meet I believe they removed the trim shaved a bit off and then drowned it with WD40!! however it did the trick JRS

Superb :)

The Fl is stil with the stealer who are attempting to fix the parking sensors. They claim the sensors are working OK so an Auto Electricial is coming out tomorrow Smile but Sad

I've also had them replace the B Pillar Cover where the seatbelt has cut some small grooves....nice Smile

I'll get them to have a look at the 'knock' tomorrow. Am i correct in thinking the number needed is:
For the front sound, at the base of A pillar: SSM39853 - Freelander 2 / LR2 Body Creak???

Thanks for your help Smile

Chris

Thanks,
I've just had the vehicle back from James Edwards, Chester - super service (so far).
Originally took it in for reversing sensors, then added the b pillar seatbelt surround (thingy) and then this morning added the body creak Smile

All done under warranty and even valeted Smile

Tidy Thumbs Up

Hi Chris

Did they cure your knocking noise? Was it related to SSM39853?

I have similar noise on my MY10, sounds pretty much like the same knock that others have been reporting. I mentioned SSM39853 to the dealer and they said that it wasn't relevant to this model, only the FL1 (!?).

Does anyone know where I can see a copy of this service bulletin?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Dave,
I quoted 'For the front sound, at the base of A pillar: SSM39853 - Freelander 2 / LR2 Body Creak' to James Edwards and their workshop manger knew about it and they fixed it Very Happy

The FL2 is going in to James Edwards again in Wednesday for the passenger seat belt pillar trim 'thingy' so i'll aks if there is an official code they used (for warranty) and get back to you if this is any good?

Cheers,

Thanks, Chris, That'd be great if find anything out.

I'm currently giving the dealer I bought it from (Halifax) the chance to sort it out. But, as I live in Nantwich James Edwards is much better positioned for me.

Thanks again.

Its a warranty item so i'd go to where suits you. I'll get the code from James Edwards tomorrow.
Cheers
