Evening all,

In my quest to fit my 2010 GS with heated washer jets I have hit a small wall!

got the jets and the loom from the stealer for £25 but unfortunately my car is missing the plug and additional wiring.

any ideas on how to get them working? by the looks of the wiring diagram they seem to be on ALL the time?!

Ay up Stownrow,
The heated front jets are thermostatically controlled so they're only active at low temperatures. The feed is ign. The wiring harness is built in 'trim levels' so that's why the connector and associated wiring is missing from the GS model. It's wise to have heated front jets together with a heated front screen otherwise the water would just freeze on contact with a non heated front front screen.
To be quite honest, i think you should pay your dealer to add the wiring if they are prepared to do it. I've not studied the cct diagram yet, but correct routing /splicing/fusing should be left to auto electricians, and a good one too.
At least that's my professional opinion for what it's worth!

Yes, they are ON all the time, as shown in the wiring diagrams, feed being ignition as Pegleg said, through a relay in Battery Junction Box and F37 fuse.
If you have technical skills, then its easy to build yourself the wired connections from F37 fuse to the heated jets.

So am I right in saying the temperature controlled bit is in the jet itself and all I need is an ignition switch 12v?

Correct, that's all it is. Very simple. Get yer soldering iron on!!
Be sure that however you do it, that all connections underbonnet are waterproof. Not only to prevent corrosion but also 'wicking'.

All installed as described! managed to use an in-line piggyback fuse (7.5amp) which works really well and plugs directly in to the correct holder!



New posh connecting block:



Wire running round the front towards the fuse box.

Does that mean you can defrost the screen with the jets or just that the water won't freeze in the pipes??

Only the nozzle is heated, not the pipes, but being the extreme part of the washer system it will freeze first.
Bear in mind that if the front screen isn't heated, that the water from the jets can freeze upon contact with a cold screen.
I remember when i worked at L/R that we all agreed that heated jets should be combined with a heated front screen.
But then again, not all customers agreed!

As pegleg described!

I personally think they make a big difference! had them on my last car and they helped a lot in the winter months. Although a heated screen would be best this only cost £30 in bits !

Yes, there is a point in having them. Imagine you've been driving for a while and the cabin is nice and warm, therefore so is the front screen. When the temp drops, the jets wont feeze and the water wont freeze when it hits the screen. Useful.
Not so when the cabin is cold.
