Does anyone of you have some experience with the Whispbar Roofbars from Prorack?

I've removed the genuine LR roofbars from our Freelander, because of bad fitting and windnoise, and i'm looking for an aftermarket sollution now.
I have a lot of Thule experience, but would like to go for the much more aerodynamic Whispbar sollution now.
Is anyone of you using it on your FL2?

Not a lot of use to you but I am looking for some roofbars myself at the moment and am sorely tempted by the Prorack Whispbar

Sorry, not really answering your question but having the Landrover roof bars fitted on my own car, I am assuming this is the wind whistle I always get (especially at about 40mph). I thought it was just a window noise.

when nothing was mounted on the genuine LR roofrack, i always removed the fixed crossbar.
The rack became much quiter without it.
with the roofbox mounted, the fixed crossbar was less noisy then without it.

I've also lost a few Times the plastic end-caps, which made me , together with the wind noise, decide to remove the LR roofrack definitive.

I thinking about it now to buy the Whispbars to mount our roofbox on, but would like to have some references about it.

Thanks Rob, I too was thinking of removing it altogether. Does it leave holes or anything though and are they easy to remove?

Hey Wizking,

It's pretty easy to remove them, all you need is an allen key.
After removing them, you have to mount the original caps back into the threaded mounting holes.
You also heve to replace the plastic strips in the roof which covers the mounting holes by new ones, since they drilled holes in them to mount the LR roofbars.

RobVW - this is very useful info thanks, albeit now slightly off thread topic! I also would like to remove the bars on my car, and the dealer told me that a new set of strips would be a lot of money to buy, and I don't have the originals since the bars were fitted by the dealer at new. Did you get replacement strips, or had you kept them?

Thanks for the info Rob, I too do not have any strips as these were on the car when I bought it.

Unfortunately, i did not had this plastic strips either, the LR roofrack was mounted by the dealer before the car was deliverd.
So i had to buy new ones, and yes, quit expensive for some plastic strips.
If i remember well, it was about 75 euro per side, so around 150 Euro for both sides

Because of my complains about loosing the end-caps a few times, and the wind noise, LR Belgium agreed to pay back the original roofbars and labour hours to remove them, and replace the plastic strips.
I've only had to pay for the new plastic strips, but after all, i was happy with this proposal.

Nobody is using the Whispbar roofbars on his FL2 ??  FL2 TD4 SX Alaska White

I was a bit concerned as to whether my sun roof would work with the bars fitted as they are low profile and I can't seem to find any dimensions of the height above roof.

The clearance typically will be about 40-50mm.

I have downloaded the fitting instructions and just been out to the car with a tape measure and looking at the fitting positions the clearance required is under 40mm, the rear bar is behind the sunroof in the open position and the sunroof is about 20mm above roof height when opening so it looks like it won't affect the sunroof operation.

I will keep you posted as I have just ordered some.

i'm still doubting ...
I'm wondering if the clamps won't harm the painting and rubber seals between the doors, and if the fixing will be as reliable as with, for instance, Thule roofbars ( which i personal find quit noisy, even their aero bars ).

Please keep us posted with your findings about the Whispbars.
