2007 manual TD4 25k miles, last month I drove to the French Alps and back, covered 1,500 miles at an average speed of 52 MPH and 37.6 MPG, have just come back from a trip round North Wales the journey up on A roads averaged 39.2 but by the time I was back home the average had dropped to 37.8. Usuall keep to the speed limit. As a general rule going to work and weekends etc normaly get 35 - 37 MPG FL2 HSE Sumatra black with body kit

MY2010 HSE Auto - 19500 miles. The best I've seen is around 37.8mpg and thats driving with a very light foot, not using the brakes all that much, below speed limit, 30 mile stretch of M-way (managed so going approx 50-60mph) and 5 miles of quiet roads per commute.

If I put my put down a bit, say cruise at around 70-80mph, it drops to about 34mpg.

2007 manual. Gets about 39 on the motorway at 70, but will register 45 plus at 50mph. 35 average in "normal" driving. However a lot of my driving is cold engine around town, and it's a struggle then to keep it above 25. I suspect using the "better" grades of diesel would improve it - made a big difference to my Td5. I always seem to get better mpg on the continent, even though I drive faster. i suspect the diesel grades are slightly better over there, as "car" diesel is often a bit more expensive than the truckers' pumps (but still nice and cheap, especially in Luxemburg!)

Didnt work out the MPG but the picture below shows what a manual Freel2 can do once its nicely loosened up.

The mileage was mainly done on a long steady speed run (Hampshire to Leeds and back same day).

The trip was reset to '0' before I started out.

Wow you guys are getting around 6L per 100km (40mpg give or take), I live in a hilly area and do not drive that hard, but on a tank i get around 25 - 29 mpg on each tank. Even when driving a full tank on the motorway I get 35mpg drivring around 75-80mph (in France).

Mine's an auto, but on the motorway that should not make any diffrence I would think

Sounds like your mpg or KM per Litre is about right for an auto, the newer manuals are some what better for fuel consumption. Auto drive even when in a steady 6th will be less efficient than a maual due to frictional energy losses in the gearbox / torque convertor. 10.1 l/100 on my fl2 se diesel in city of auckland whats that in mpg? dont care love the car obviously better fuel ecconmy than my 4.4l BMW X5 i had which did at best 16.2 l / 100 and petrol more expensive of course. only issue here is we have to pay road user charges on all yes all diesel cars, tucks or whatever so have to shell out every 1000 kms fo a disc or buy them in 1000 kms multiples but still as they say here in nz .. all good

60 000 miles averaging 35mpg

(Gone) 2010 TD4 Manual GS - Stornoway Grey. Sold at 3yrs old & 64k miles. Final average consumption 39.2mpg.

My new fl2 HSE auto has done almost 2000 miles since 1 09 2010. trip to france put 1200 miles on her...average thus far is 29.4 MPG best schieved was 34.3MPG...im more than happy with that mpg....

It is a good way of learning to drive economically, if that's what you want to do. Easing off just before the crest of a hill, anticipating slowing down so you don't need to brake etc. Possibly also a good way of taking your attention away from the road and killing yourself too

36.3mpg when arrived home. Was at 41.4 before some town miles and forrests. 1 passenger, tools and 2 spare wheels.

My previous 08 GS Auto was always below 30 after this type of journey. All FL2's (3) Gone
