Has the insurance company told you which shop you can use or you can use anywhere? A lot of insurance companies suggest to stick with Halfords. (They can order in a specific bike if you know what you want)

If it is halfords, then the Boardman range is very good for the money. If you are free to any shop, Specialized are always a solid bet for value for money hardtail.

What type of riding you do?

Come join bikeradar and ask on the forums. You'll have lots of advice and suggestions.

Giant Talon 0, looks like you can get one for £ 650.00 (from £ 850.00)

I've got a 3 (0 is the best 1, 2, 3 progressively worse!!) it is great. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

If you know what you want then I would try the internet, Chain Reaction, Wiggle and Evens are some the most popular and offer good deals especially if your not fussy and will do with last years bikes.

Other than that there are few good bike shops over in the lakes, Keswick Mountain Bikes, Biketreks over in Ambleside and you could try Wheelbase over at Staveley

I have a basically unused, unmarked 2007/8 Cube Team Elite hard tail. XT gear/chain sets, R-Seven front forks, Discs all round, Monkey Light bars with both German road and trail tyres, another chain set etc. etc. Cost me about 1800 quid. Might let it go for a grand. Just not using it. That said, it's not doing any harm in the garage.

Orange Clockwork, very nice choice!!! Very Happy
I love Orange, got myself an Orange Subzero, all custom built, does everything I could possibly ask of it. Have started eyeing up the Orange Alpine 160 for next summer, want it sooo bad!

Eskdale, if you got around £800, check out the Orange G3 and G2, really nice bikes and British built.
