Rear Diff / Haldex

A friend of mine has a Volvo V70R. So far as I'm aware this shares the same Haldex 3 transfer box, as the early FL2's (like mine). His car went in for service and they told him the Haldex had packed up. He never knew he'd been driving around on 2WD for a couple of months Shocked

The question is - do our cars flag up an error message if there's anything wrong with the AWD system?? I don't want to get into the winter period and find out I have no AWD Shocked Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Yes, the error appears on the centre display as:
Transmission Fault. Traction Reduced.
