What's wrong with this picture?

I am one of many with whistling noise from the roofbars, but I've found that the crossmember of my roofbar is somewhat different from what I've seen on other FL2's.

There is an edge protruding from the roofbar's full lenght on the underside of the bar (se pics), and this might be the culprit.

Since I haven't seen the excact same edge on other FL2's roofbars, I'm wondering if something is missing from it, a rubber surround or something?

Any ideas?

mine doesn't have the little spoilers bumps you can see on your 1st photo, and you might be able to make out a ridge that runs the full width, which is a protruding 'v' shaped (not a V shaped channel)

I have no whistling from mine, so my guess is you have the incorrect roof rails Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Well, I have the sunroof, and the rails are factory fitted, so I'm a bit puzzled by the noise. And the rail has both spoilers and a ridge that runs the full lenght of the crossbar.

I'm pretty sure somethings wrong, just can't find out what.

Am I missing a part here or what? Leopard tank drivers never stop at anything.

i appreciate the rails are factory fit (done by dealer I believe) but when the FL2 was launch they then realised the rails whistled and released separate sets for sunroofed and non sunroofed FL2

See if you have your documents and see which part number they used for the rails Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

If there is no parts missing from the crossbar, then I'm inclined to think that LR (or the dealer) mounted the wrong type of crossbar. I checked with to other FL2's one older and one newer than mine, and they had the crossbar without the ridge underneath, which leads me to one possible solution:

Get the crossbar changed for the other type, does anyone know if this is possible?

And thanks Redlabel, but the Whispbar will not find its way to my FL2 Cool Leopard tank drivers never stop at anything.

i don't think you'll be able to buy just the cross member, like you can do with the fitting kit

Also due to the length of time between fitting and noticing LR/Your Dealer maybe reluctant to replace

Unless it was fitted brand new, pre delivery and then it would be covered by the full 3 year warranty, but again wrong part is not same as faulty parts

I would speak to the supplying dealer, let them identify if its right or wrong and go from there Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Oscr....

I've had a look at mine, I don't have a sunroof and mine are the same as yours.

I do not get any noise from them and never have.

The dealer fitted them when the car was new.

Hope this helps.

sorry but I'd still remove the OEM rails.........don't like the way they look. The Whispbars would be my only option.
But sounds like you might have gotten the wrong bars for your car anyways so.
Good luck Smile FL2, TD4 HSE

Attached a gaffa-tape along the ridge, voila. No noise at all, so it seems the crossbar may be the wrong type.

But I will have to get it changed, gaffa-tape is not a lasting solution... Confused Leopard tank drivers never stop at anything.
