HSE Alloys

Hi guys,

Just bought a new set of HSE alloys to go on my car when my current tyres have had it (about 2mm at the minute).

How much do HSE alloys go for (will still have the tyres on, but will need new one's) ?

Cheers

Chris

Have a look on flea-bay. Usually some there. People seem to sell them one at a time - presumably they fetch more that way.

I bought a genuine LR wheel with barely legal tyre for £50 recently, which I thought was OK (I didn't need the tyre). With decent tread they fetch quite a lot more, if you're prepared to run on a tyre with an unknown history. Goodyears are about £140 a piece, so a good wheel and new tyre would cost a couple of hundred. They go for well over a hundred on e-bay.

Nice one chaps.

Only realised yesterday that the alloys differ from what I have on at the minute (they are similar, and proper LR parts - LR002799).

Still a steal at £460 though Smile

The HSE come with 18 inch rims in South Africa. Tyre availability of this size is very limited here and most suppliers are out of stock. I am considering changing my rims to 17 inch, the the choice of tyres are much more.
Has anyone done this before?? Rolling Eyes

Not heard of anyone downsizing alloys, but it is all the rage in Europe (France etc). The smaller your wheels, the quicker your acceleration (but slower top end).

Not really a problem for the FL2, as its not a race car.

It's down to personal preference I would say Smile

You can always downsize to 17" wheels, but with a higher profile tyre, so your rolling circumference will be the same & your speedo will remain accurate.

Good Luck

I believe he is down sizing due to there being a lack of off-road 18" tyres, 17" gives a wider tyre choice At work

I have been looking into the possibility of securing a second set of wheels and fit some nobbly tyres for IF we have some harsh weather again this winter-I know there has been a few past discussions, but I don't mean M+S tyres I mean some Hard core no nonsence snow tyres-Does anyone have any suggestions maybe the Canadian/scandinavian members can help.

Where did you get your wheels and tyres from? I am near the point of needing a set of new tyres and this is the cheapest option and yours seem to be the cheapest I HAVE SEEN. Simon

A set of 19" recently finished on ebay without a sale (item eBay Item No. 250661079063). Also at £550 - same price as 18" mentioned by Chrisuk above. Maybe prices are coming down in general.
