I would find it useful if there was a 12V accessary socket in the boot. Has anyone fitted one and would there be a warranty issue?

Yes I did read it somewhaere that the latest models fit one as standard. Mine is a 2008 HSE and not included.
Land Rover obviously thought it would be useful to some people. I know I could run a cable from the cabin socket as a last resort.

I did a 'Search'. I guess I didn't try hard enough. Should have gone to Specsavers!
Anyway not the straightforward job I thought it might be.

Has anyone had this done at their Land Rover garage and if so what was the cost?

I have fitted two connector blocks once with four 12v outlets and one with two. I have a two bar with twin electrics for my caravan so I found the 12v feed and the switched 12v feed so that I could have a cuircuit that is constantly live and one that is only live when the alternator is on.

Why so many outlets.? I origonally bought very cheep adapters so that I would have two and two but they proved to be so poor quality that they melted the solder connections very quickly. I then used some old connectors that I had lying around and they have been fine. I use them for electic cool boxes and I have a rechargable Maglight fixed in the boot as well as a battery charger for my digital camera.

Good set up which I have plans to make better. Simon

Andrew - I asked about it when we got the car (Like yours a 2008 HSE) and they said there is no official 'Kit' you can get from LR. So I said ok will you do it then, and they said no, wouldn't want to connect to a point not designated/intended etc etc blah blah bull bull.... I just run a lead when needed from one of the sockets in the middle of the front seats.
Now you've raised the point I'm going to do a search as I need to do it too.....there's full instructions on here somewhere...might have been Alex P

I am thinking that there is a significant demand for a power outlet in the boot. I can see people are doing their own conversions. I am quite happy to tackle this if there was a clear definative and 'approved' method.

I don't like the idea of removing a side panel but there are other locations, some already mentioned.

One of my concerns is, that if Land Rover are not prepared to offer a solution and I have yet to ask my Garage I hasten to add, then, will any of the DIY solutions invalidate the Warranty?

A power outlet in the boot of such a vehicle as the Freelander is a must in my view.

why not simply connect a trailing lead to the fuse box under the boot floor, store it under the floor when not needed lift it out when needed? At work
