Plastic steering wheel

Hello, This is my first post and have been reading your forum as a guest since I bought my FL2 in Sept last year..... I have a GS TD4e and my only regret was that I didn't get the steering wheel upgraded to leather, ordinarily this would not bother me too much but I then went to Eastnor Castle for my half day experience (just brilliant) and I drove a FL2 HSE with all the toys with the soft Nappa leather steering wheel....

My question is does anyone know the cheapest way to get one... there are a few on ebay, but they state that they don't fit the FL2 2010my.... or can I buy the leather and lace it on myself.??

I love my FL2, it copes with everything brilliantly from carrying my sea kayak and kit to the monthly costco outing, I'm really looking forward to our family camping trip to S.France in July... just two things to buy - Mantec tank guard and the leather steering wheel..... many thanks Respect due!

When I bought my GS I considered a car from stock which had a plastic wheel. The dealer investigated how much to order a leather one from LR and swap and it was over £300! So I factory ordered to get the leather rim - only £80 or so but it irritates to have to pay extra for something that even a Fiesta gets as standard.

I have solved this by buying a simple steering wheel cover at ebay for 9 euros Wink

Thanks for your advice... I was thinking back to when I bought my FL2 and the one I test drove had a leather wheel so subconsciously didn't give it a second thought, Should have read the brochures more carefully....

As for the trimming companies, disappointingly I haven't had a reply apart from a coachwork company who did say that their trimmers hate doing steering wheels!

Thanks again and if I get anywhere I'll let you know...

Kind regards Respect due!

MotorWorld do a very nice leather cover, if that will do for you, 11 quid if I remember. Nice padded 'lumps' at 10 + 3. I love mine. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!
