Clutch slipping intermitently

Slipping clutch after 20,000 miles in 5th and 6th gear, slips by about 300 rpm then recovers.
Just got a phone call today from local LR garage. They have now had a reply from landrover who have instructed them to further investigate. As this clutch only slips every now and again I realy dont know what they can find. They only thing i can think it can be would be either a small amount of oil leaking through the crankshaft seal at the gearbox end, then getting burnt off.
The other option that it might be is the presure plate is too weak or some sort of fault with these new type duel mass flywheel which i have not worked on before.
Has any one actual found out where the problem lies or are landrover keeping it under thier hat as i think it might well be a design fault. A lot of money if it ended up being a recall issue.

The pressure plate has a form of self adjuster which get clogged up with clutch plate dust etc and then stops the clutch self adjusting, hence the clutch slip.
(60/65 MPH in 6th 1500RPM put your foot, engine revs about 300RPM more and no gain in road speed) clutch slip. All the best with LR there got mine sorted.
Lets hope it last longer them 26500 miles this time ??

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Rimini Red

Got my clutch replaced under warranty at 38000 miles on a 07 plate XS.

No arguments at all.

One thing i have heard they look for is whether or not you have been towing.

For a vehicle capable of off roading, the clutch is as weak as P**s ! Gone S383 ABA Freelander 2.0 XEDI Rioja Red

My clutch is showing similar symptoms at 28,000 miles. It's booked into Stratstones next week to look at this along with other problems. Very Happy
