Found you via Landyzone. Volvo estate at present but am getting a used Freelander hopefully this month.

Am looking at the following -

F2 GS 2008 58 plate 8000 miles Silver or
F2 HSE 2006 56 plate 30000 miles Stornoway grey


Both about same price £20k but will no doubt get a bit of a reduction. They are both approved dealer cars so will come with warranty etc. I do about 20000 miles a year and would hope to keep the car for 4-5 years.

Just wondering which would be better buy ? Newer, low mileage but lesser spec. Or older, average miles for age, but whistles & bells ???

Whichever I get I will need a roofbox - is it best to have dealer fit roofrails or go for Thule feet/rails - not sure with sunroof if I get the HSE which is better ?? Help !!

I suppose the better of the two cars available baring in mind the number of miles you cover and the length of time you intend keeping the car would be the GS. Mind you if you are anything like me after two years have whipped by you will be looking for another one

Depends what you want from the car, GS spec is good now,not sure on the '58 plates or toys of the HSE if that's what you want

I've had a 07 XS since feb and I'm loving the car, the toys of a HSE would be nice but a new GS will be great. I'm loving my freelander it brings a smile to my face every time I floor it up a steep long hill in 4th its like a rocket. has the GS got the phone system as that is very useful. go for it.....

The 2008 58 plate I think was the dealer demonstrator.

The HSE comes in on Saturday so off to look at them both one evening next week. Would like the whistles and bells, but maybe newer is better. 8000 miles is pretty good.

Think I'm right saying this would have been regsitered Jan/Feb 2009 (sorrry not up on reg years ) in which case it is just over a year old ... ?

You are right Pacer, '58' plate covers dates from 01/09/08 to 28/02/09 so it depends when the car was reg between those dates
