aftermarket towbar car specific light plug in

hello,

does anyone know anywhere nr southampton/ bournemouth/ salisbury that i can get a re-code doen to set up my recently installed towbar plug in.

its obviously for a lr freelenader 2 - just bought and fitted a witter detachable and vehicle specific lighting box thing - just need it re-coded now.

from the instructions for the re-code it looks like a 2 min job if you have the right gear. just wanted to avoid paying the dealership 35 quid for a 2 min job and prob having to book in 2 weeks in advance.

any help gratefully recieved

If he's ''in your area'' then it sounds like a job for one of the site sponsors 10forcash. Click on the Sponsor tab at the top and email him - you will have to wait until he's near you though Thumbs Up

Burko...

I had the witter towbar and electrics fitted, local dealer agreed to do the software upgrade for £40 but could not get it to work, they reckoned that the electronic box is very model specific and was not the correct one. They removed the electrics and fitted LR electrics which worked first time, I got a refund on the witter electrics. This was the day before going on holiday...Hope you can get yours sorted.

Skidmark,

Sounds like they saw you coming as an oportunity to sell their own kit. Mine is not an LR wiring kit, but made by jaeger for 75% of the price. Your dealer just didn't want to spend 4 mins (yes I watched the dealer do it) to open a laptop, plug it in the car and check a box on the computer screen.

Burko,

If the dealer won't play ball phone LR customer service since the dealer clearlty hasn't grasped the concept of you being a customer! Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

I can seee why you might think that, but they spent four hours on a friday evening trying to get it to work while I waited, then booked me in at 08:30 sat morning to do the removal and refit. They sold me the LR electrics at cost and didn't charge for the removal or refitting. I was more than happy with the service provided, it could have cost an arm & leg.

thanks for all the posts folks.

had my fl booked in last week to get the frayed seatbelt sorted.

the helpful lot at westovers in bournemouth sorted the above (with a return visit to fit and sort out a minor pipe leak) and did the trailer light switch on and disengaged the autolock for £28. still daylight robbery i guess but it was worth it to sort it out finally.

all worked as promised.
