United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Sumatra Black
Familyville!!

Hello all,

This is my first post on this fab site, traded my beloved Audi A4 cabriolet in yesterday Big Cry for a 57 reg freelander 's' spec as putting my 10month old in the back of the audi was giving me severe backache!. I originally wanted at least a GS but this one came with 19" wheels which kind of had me sold as soon as I saw it!!

Does anyone know if these wheels would have been fitted as factory option or would they have been fitted at later stage? According to the LRsite they are not available as an option on the current 's' spec

My reason for asking is to assertain whether or not I need to inform my insurance company if it has been modified from it's original spec or not.

Thats all for now, if anyone has any essential tips / thinhs I should know about Freelander ownership then let me know!

Thanks Razz

If you tell the insurance company they are factory spec alloys there should not be an increase in premium unless the insurance company in question are thieves! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Sound like an optional extra added by someone

I don't think a HSE comes with 19's as standard Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Hi,

I seem to remember a dealer in Maidstone offering 19"s for free on the S spec when I was looking...circa Feb 2008. I'm sure they were the shadow chrome one's. Might be worth a phonecall before you contact your insurance.

Just looked and it was Guy Salmon in maidstone.

NM. Baltic blue XS - Alpaca Leather - 18" HSE wheels.

No the HSE came with 18" as standard but it sounds as though Mike77 has Shadow Chromes (Very nice), the dealer near me whenever they have an "S" spec as a dealer fleet car to use as a courtesy car or demonstrator have it fitted with privacy and Shadow Chromes. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

The HSE factory fit are 12 spokes (As per forum pikky top right of your screen).

It's usual for your insurance co' to ask has the car had accessories added or modified to increase it's value/performance and in Mike77's case it has.

If he tells his insurance co about the wheels (Making sure they are noted that they are a LR approved accessory and not just an aftermarket bling accessory) His premium would go up as it makes the car more desirable, but he would be fully insured. Assuming the worst, and a low life decided he/she liked the car and took it, Mike would get a replacement taking the wheels into consideration.

If the wheels were not declared then they would not be on the replacement vehicle, another case would be that the insurance co' found out about the aftermarket wheels and refused to pay out. What happens if you had an accident Big Cry and the insurance assessor declared the wheels as non standard and so used that excuse not to pay out.

I'd declare them, pay the premium, relax and enjoy the wonderful car Thumbs Up

Ooops Embarassed me and my size nines, sorry..... wasn't meant to come out like that, just that clear (Which are now factory fit) or dark smoked seem to be what most people (or should that be some people) fit Smile
