2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e S Manual Santorini Black

Question about 19" Wheels fuel economy and comfort?

I have just bought a FL2 Black SE which comes with the 17" GS Wheels. I want to upgrade to 19" wheels but was wondering if this will effect fuel economy and ride comfort.

Any ideas?

2012 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Fuji White

When I changed my standard GS alloys for 19 inch alloys and tyres there was a drop of 2mpg, a more firm, harsh ride and c p in the snow. I'll put them back on in the spring though A Land Rover owner since 1988

From a 1974 series III to a 12MY XS FL2 with help of a 1995 D1, 1996 D1, 2005 D3, 2007 D3 and a 2009 FL2.

I went from my SE 17" wheels to my newer FL2 on 19" without any noticable different in comfort

Also appart from the 19's been bigger (and possible heavier) they have the same rolling radius as 17's so you should see no change in mpg, I went from a manual to auto so no data to show if any change was apparent

Just do the change and don't worry about it, unless they are shadow chromes and then worry about kerbs S they can't be smart repaired as it's very hard to match the exsisting colour

but sod that if you like them get them Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Fuel econ won't change as the rolling radius is almost (to a gnats nadger) the same, ride comfort has to go down a bit as the wall height is reduced and so in theory your loosing a bit of a cushion effect.
I don't have 19's ....'yet'....but the thought of a slightly harsher ride won't stop me getting them as I bet it's almost unnociable

I have gone from 18's to 19's and have not noticed any difference in ride quality or MPG. So you will be fine. If anything, the on road handling is better.

Mine was great in the snow whilst towing next doors Jag XF out the street.

Hiya,

I just upgraded from 17"GS to 19" Triple Sport...

No change in MPG and I can't say I've noticed a change with the ride... and that's with all the pot holes in Cheltenham!

The look is much better though.. go for the 19" - I should have done it sooner.

Don’t be put by earlier comments. Monday was such I nice day that I declared it to be spring and put my triple sports back on.

The ride is firmer but not uncomfortable and cornering is much more fun. Who cares about mpg they look great. The GS alloys are confined to the garage until next winter.

Right - decision made. I'm going to put on 19" Triple Sports for the summer and store the 17"s for the Winter.

I hope to do this in about 4 weeks so anyone has or knows of anyone selling a set of 4 please message me!
