I recon a less than a litre will top the car from minimum it will be only about £10 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

I'd be a bit careful about topping up with different oils. Albeit, so long as it's the same viscosity, it shouldn't be a major issue. Go to your local dealer and they normally top it up for free. Otherwise my dealer does 5 litres of Unipart 5w 30 for £13.00!! That's what they use in the service. |

5W-30 is what it needs so that bit is OK but does it say on the bottle meets specification M2C913-B. If it doesn't don't do it. |

I'm with Mac......
We had this debate four years ago on Disco3 when the TDV6 had a drinking problem and used several litres when new. Just remember it's a Ford engine and you can get 4.5 litres from a Ford Dealer for fraction of what a Land Rover/Jaguar dealer will charge From a 1974 series III to a 12MY XS FL2 with help of a 1995 D1, 1996 D1, 2005 D3, 2007 D3 and a 2009 FL2. |

cant afford to at the mo for the reason i was made redundant and i have a new born baby and a toddler i can afford to keep my freelander otherwise i wouldnt have brought it just wanted something to keep it going smoothly until i get my service sorted in a month |

I have just less than a litre (about 600ml) of the correct oil in my garage when I had to top up my old car a little just before a service

thankyou for that npinks i do appreciate it i have just sorted it out now had a friend of mine who has i disco 3 and he just droped me 1ltr of his oil thanks for all the help from the people who did help |
