Power fold mirrors getting tired?

When we first got FL2s some people wondered if the auto fold function on the mirrors of higher models may eventually get tired and stop working. Rolling Eyes

I've noticed the driver's door mirror on mine has recently folded very slowly and only part way, unless given a helping hand. Anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions how to wake em up again? Razz  Life is not a dress rehearsal!

Had mine since 6th Jan 07 and no problems with mirrors,I do spray GT85 in them every month or so though.

The motors in the mirror can be an issue on these. Mine were replaced towards the and of 2007, and when it goes in for it's 3rd service in December they are replacing them again as they are juddering again.

Out of warranty on Jan 7th 2010 so need to go through the czar with a fine tooth comb! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Just the same as the others have said really. I spray mine every few weeks with Silicone Spray and it does the trick. Mine are still working fine. Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

I also spray mine every couple of months or so with WD40. I have also noticed that as soon as the weather turns colder the comments about the mirrors reappear, no postings seam to appear all through summer but as soon as we have a bit of a frost the mirror postings appear and we had to scrape the screen for the first time last week. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

dont use wd40 dust sticks to it making a grinding paste. use silicon oil, save the wd40 for caravan use Thumbs Up At work

Using WD40 you do need to be careful as if it gets on the plastic of the mirrors in can weaken the plastic. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

also I don't think WD40 would have a detrimental effect on the plastic as mentioned on another post.

I disagree, working with dusty farm environment , silicon oil does not get sticky and gungy over time as wd40 does. At work

Silicon spray tends to evaporate and not leave so much residue for the dust to cling to like WD40 does I find.

My FL2 is two and a half years old and I have never used anything to lubricate the mirrors and they still work fine. I have used WD40 on the caravan door hinges though followed by oil.
