Safety Camera Detectors

Hi this is my first post...just 4 more weeks to go until delivery!
Does any one know if detectors mounted on the dash will work ok due to the metal elements in the front windscreen? 2010 HSE Galway Green auto GONE

Mine works but takes ages to connect

I find it better to place it right in the corner where they are no elements Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have a Garmin Nuvi with the camera detectors loaded in and the whole thing works perfect where the OEM sat nav unit fits. Ralph

Are you talking 'active' camera detectors or sat nav with a suitable database?

I used a Tom Tom 720 located in the same position as the factory fit sav nav, it worked no problem on its own internal aerial Thumbs Up Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

I was thinking of keeping the OEM and using a dash mounted active unit.
Any further suggestions? 2010 HSE Galway Green auto GONE

I don't use mine, a roadpilot micro Go, often due to the location of the unit and the fact I need to get power to it by stretching the lead from the front cigar lighter

I decided the best way would be to mount it up near my sunroof switches but to do this I need the external GPS aerial and to find a switched power source in that location to tap into and hide the cigar lighter socket (need to use the OEM power lead with it as other make it squeal) another reason I think this would be a good place is that it's out of sight from theiving toerags Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks to all for the info.
Guess I might try the web for detailed up to date info and see what they come up with.

Hi,

I use a Talex system in the corner of the screen, always works very well.
Its small enough to be left in place without attracting attention. Thumbs Up
