FL2 TD4 2012 Starting issues

Hi Guys,

Strange behavior when starting the car these days on my FL2 TD4 2012.

Sometimes, when I press the brake pedal as usual to start the car, it makes just a click sound, and sometimes half cranking only but won't start and the brake pedal immediately becomes hard. To start the car I have to press very hard on it, then it starts normally.

No message on dashboard, battery Ok.

Thx Thumbs Up

now symptoms has a bit changed as I dont need to press the start button again after the first start fail, I just have to release and press the brake pedal again after the first fail, then engine starts.

I assume that the click you heard when it didnt start is from the engine somewhere and not the brake pedal.
If that is correct then it could well be the starter motor solenoid. The solenoid can wear and cause failure to engage the starter motor and it can be intermittent.
You can obtain solenoid repair kits as its quite an easy fix.

Hi Jules,
You're correct Thumbs Up , I took her to the mechanic this morning, the solenoid was worn out, he replaced it and now it' running fine.
Thx Thumbs Up
