AUTO mode disables fan on climate control

Hi all,

I am having trouble with my HVAC system on my 2013 Freelander 2 GS (Dual-Zone Climate Control). The fan and dials work fine when in the manual mode, but when I press the AUTO button it shuts everything down without fail. Switching back to manual does not fix the fan. The only way to restart the climate fan is by switching the ignition off and on again. When the fan has been shut down, the lights still work on the dials but there is no fan action (and no lights on the fan dial while the auto mode is on).

I have replaced the blower motor resistor module and checked the cabin air temperature sensor. I have recently had the following fault codes show up as well as some trouble with the temperature dials, however those problems seemed to be fixed after I recalibrated/reset the HVAC system.

Codes:
Left and Right temperature damper motor - Intermittent
Air distribution damper motor - Intermittent

Currently:
AUTO still instantly cuts the blower; manual mode resumes only after a restart; manual fan control otherwise consistent.

Has anyone had this before and can help me fix it?

Let me know if I missed any information out.

Many thanks in advance

Have you looked at the live values for the HVAC

I have not read the live data, do you need a dealer level diagnostic tool for that?

UPDATE

I replaced the control panel which has the dials and buttons on it, and that fixed the problem. I imagine there was a problem with the PCB board which was disabling it. 2013 Freelander 2 | Automatic | GS TD4 | Owned since Aug '25
