MAF fault finding

Hey everyone, hopefully someone can help, I’ve recently replaced the MAF after low power symptoms and the can now runs 90% better. My only gripe being “bad” mpg (33.9 on long stretches). I’m not getting any lights or codes but I did notice that my intake temperature is -37 according to Torque which is clearly wrong. My car has the MAF/IAT combo (no separate IAT sensor). Any other way to test it other than Torque?

Thanks!

Hi, Knemfusion,
Very strange …I had similar thing happen à year ago today….!!!!
Had hesitation problem, DTCs on my AP200 suggested faulty MAF sensor….I sent for new Hitachi OE unit , fitted it, but car ran worse…..checked on live data…had -39C reading…..! Refitted old unit, car ran better.
See my posts…Home/Technical—-1st subject…page 27….
The only thing I would say is : if your only gripe is mpg 33.9mpg that’s not too bad…..34mpg is pretty average……
It would be interesting to check with another ‘ known to be good ‘ code reader….

Depends on whether 33.9 mpg is average or what you expect on a long run. I’ve seen over 40 on really long trips but the running average overall was 33 to 34 mpg.

Was it a genuine MAF? Was the air path calibration carried out?
Ideally a genuine MAF is preferred, and the air path calibration is a must. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
