No tilt on sunroof but it opens and closes on slide.

Hello all, not sure if anyone has had a problem with their tilt/slide sunroof as mine today has gone faulty where the roof slides back and closes without error but does not tilt.

The switch doesn’t feel notchy at all and also illuminates off the headlight switch, so without removing trims etc I just wondered if anyone had the same problem, I thought to do a power reset but tonight’s weather isn’t nice.

As usual the Haynes manual doesn’t help.

Will be having a better investive look this weekend if the weathers dry.

Can anyone add advice please?

Hello davyboy

I have the same issue. The sunroof will open in the retracted slide position, however it will not tilt. When attempting to tilt, the sunroof only elevates slightly. All motions are manual (i.e. when buttons pushed); the reset procedure does not work.

I assume there's something mechanically wrong preventing the tilt function. Please advise if you found the root cause for the problem. Thanks.

Yeah... fair enough. I found the other topic:

mentioning "the alloy swells under the plastic coating" ... I figure I've got the same.

I doubt if it anything to do with the switch, as it is used to signal for both opening and tilt functions. Pin 8 (tilt function signal is used during the open/close function)

In the Repair Manual is a very comprehensive description of the Opening/Tilting Roof starting on page 2367.
This section includes a Fault Finding Guide and How to Dismantle.

Sun roof no tilt only slides

So chaps, yes moved on now unfortunately I now have a 2020 Discovery Sport D240, sometimes I miss my old freelander 2 as I vertually rebuilt it, anyway it’s good to catch up and read the old forum, my discovery has been challenging somewhat but now is all sorted until something else comes round!
Sorry can’t be of any help with the tilt slide errors.
