Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
Crankshaft sensor

2010 FL2 HSE auto
2 weeks ago car cut out completely, all electrics failed.
Pulled in sat for a few minutes, had switched off, switched on, restarted and no problem since.
Took it to my garage where they plugged in their large Autel tester. No faults found.
Suspect CPS, phone local LR dealer, sorry not in stock and because oof JLR hacking having problems with spares.
Did a lot of digging and have alternate parts number for Ford, Peugeot, Bosch and Febi.
Firstly, does this sound like a CPS?
Secondly, any recommendations to other suppliers. CPS failed 3 years ago and i bought from LR.
cheers

Can I suggest that before you buy a new CPS you take a look at the plug/socket - the seal may have been compromised and corrosion set in.
3 years between failures is rather soon, not impossible, but I would be looking for contributary conditions. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

The same happened to me last year. The car just died and I coasted to a stop. Only a mile or so from home, so phoned a friend to tow me home. When he arrived, the car fired right up. Drive home no probs.
SDD said crank sensor, so I replaced it with a new cheapo brand from AutoDoc. The car wouldn't run with the new sensor, so I put the old one back on and it fired up immediately. I have since replaced it with one from a job lot of new sensors I bought from a forum member who had sold up. I can dig the box out for the make and part number if you want it. The car has been fine since 🙏.
