Wheel Alignment

Hi - back in April I posted a topic regarding Steering Wheel Alignment and a tendancy for my Freelander to drift and be what I considered overly sensitive of road camber conditions etc.

Concerned about long term effects to tyre wear etc, I decided to return the vehicle to my local dealer where the Workshop Controller road tested the car with me. It has now been in the workshop and the steering geometry checked and adjusted. The steering wheel is now straight ahead when applicable and the vehicles tendency to drift and pull almost totally neutralised.

Whilst it is acknowledged that the steering on the F2 is "sensistive" and directional changes somewhat sharper than on previous models, I would urge any other forum readers if they are concerned about steering drift etc to have their steering and suspension geometry checked. Mine might as a new car been a very isolated case, but I like many are very aware of replacement tyre costs as recent postings have revealed. Crying or Very sad

Hi noted that as of today there had been 100 views to my original posting on Wheel Alignment. Just interested whether anyone had had similar problems with wheel alignment/steering drift and if so has the problem been sorted and how?

Thanks - look forward to reading any replies.

Mine is is handling fine but when I had a service a month ago they tried to get me to have the four wheel alignment and they quoted on the invoice £105 + Vat. As it seems fine and no strange handling or tyre wear I declined. Mind youi after the bill I got for the service the wallet was just about empty. Big Cry p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Local tyre dealer checked mine ala laser for £18. Would not have trusted him with any adjustments mind you! Rather done it myself with chalk marks and string. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

This morning at 9:30 a certain farmers tractor broke down as it was exiting a busy T junction The clutch failed and tractor refused to move Things were not helped buy the huge piece of machinery being towed by said tractor.
Luckily the hapless tractor driver (Phil) was able to phone me to come with another tractor and tow him to the nearby pub car park.

Not the nicest of jobs changing the clutch on a modern tractor me thinks. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit
