Installing Check Valve on Fuel Line - 3.2L Petrol

Hi all,

(context - feel free to skip)
I've been chasing startup issues on my 2010 LR2 for the past few months. What started as "no crank" in December has evolved into occasional long cranks - slow but steady progress.
So far, I've replaced the battery and starter & added a ground cable between both. This solved the "no crank" situation. Lately I've replaced the PCV valve, crankshaft position sensor and camshaft sensors. Still getting long cranks. The leaves some kind fuel pressure bleed as the next most likely culprit.

How/where would I install a check valve on the fuel line?

Looking at the top of the fuel module - this the fuel line? Does anyone have a part number for this, or any advice about adding a check valve here (is it metal or plastic, what the ID)? This seems like a better place than at the fuel rail - thoughts?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the multiple posts.

It occurred to me that I could use the pre-existing 3/8" quick connect fittings between the fuel pump and fuel line to simply add a check valve. 50$ repair done in about 10min. Problem solved! Starts right up with no hesitation whatsoever.

Unfortunately it's impossible to get my camera at an angle that allows for a decent picture but here goes..

Unfortunately the car wouldn't start just now (endless cranking) and gave me a P0193. This is after an hour drive without issue.. Weird.
I'm praying that was due to the new fuel hose being pinched. Paul, does that make any sense?
I've un-pinched it now hopefully that solves it.

Here are the parts used:

Well done and congratulations!!!’

We may all have to do this at some point.

The P0193 is an indication that the pressure is too high,

If you block the hose and then the blockage is removed you will get a pressure spike. You can try it on a garden hose to see it happen.

If you have everything in a good place now and you don’t see the code again I wouldn’t worry about it.

This is an excellent field expedient repair that may work well for years to come.

Take care

Paul

Thanks Paul, I appreciate that. It was a heck of a relief to have the vehicle start right up after the repair. It was equally demoralizing to later have it fail to start outright.
So far the un-pinching of the tubing seems to have done the trick, although I suspect this valve is restricting fuel flow slightly.
I'll keep you updated regarding startup issues over the next few days. Fingers crossed!
