Yesterday afternoon the remote locking decided to stop working. New batteries in both keys a couple of months back, and had been working in the morning so not the dreaded 28-day sleep function.

I had seen some odd intermittent failures that seemed to resolve themselves pretty much straight away, but this was persistent.

First thought was "I've got a full tailgate guard and have just fitted a commercial bulkhead.... have I inadvertently created conditions for RF block/interference? To check this I dropped the light in the headlining above the rear seat space and located the RF receiver. After some gentle persuasion with a screwdriver I prised it free of the velcro and dropped it through the opening for the light and held the key directly against it. No bueno.

Next up was to check fuse F21 (5a, brown, under the glovebox) as this supplies alarm and the RF circuit. Fuse was fine.

Reading the codes with my Foxwell, I got U201-87/P.

Sorry to jump on this thread, but does anyone know if the location of the receiver is different if you have a sunroof? I’ve a similar issue with a 2013 HSE LUX, I’ve purchased a replacement receiver, but had the rear light out today and managed to drop a little bit of the lining, and all. Thats there is the…sunroof motor

Hope fully this will help others - If you have a late model, with the sunroof, the RF receiver part is the same as the evoque, but it is actually located in the rear section of the headlining, on the Left hand side. I have managed to change this out this morning and repaired the fault. Rather than remove the headlining from the rear, I removed the passenger rear grab handle, the door seal, and gently started loosening the headling from that side. Using my skinny arms, I reached rearward and was able to locate and release the receiver. From there, brought it forward, was able to swap out, and reach back to re fit to the Velcro! And then refit everything. Not gonna lie though, ripped my arms to bits haha
