Fuel rail pressure

See my post on “Does the computer learn”
Car has just had a service and a new (Bosch/Purflex) fuel filter fitted - so fingers crossed.

Mechanic advises he missed 3 error codes ( he rest before recording)
3 coincidentally was the number of times I had the problem in the previous post - so maybe 3 instances of the same code ?

However he tells me that the system advises that the “fuel rail pressure desired” is 3000. He says it should be a maximum of 2000.

Without an error code he’s guessing at the next step. Could be the software thats programmed to ask for a high value, or it could be the hardware thats faulty causing a software reaction to compensate.

I understand the explanation but no idea of the solution. There are no lights on and no physical symptoms in the way the car drives. We’ll connect back up to the computer in two weeks to check if there is an error code.

Any feedback, pointers or advice on where to look from the forum would be much appreciated.

Just read your previous post…….you had trouble with car performance after being stuck in traffic…….
Now you have had car serviced……..ok
I can’t understand what your mechanic is talking about……..I presume his OBD reader says ‘desired fuel rail pressure 3000’………..three thousand what ? Then he says it should be max 2000……..
I have just found my post from April ‘25………Craigos was asking for some live data readings from a good FL2 to compare with his readings…………thé FRP…..fuel-rail pressure on my SD4 at 794 rpm was 44390kPa
which is about 444atm or 6438 psi…….! Nothing like 2000 or 3000.
You say thé car is running ok with no warning lights illuminated……….so see how it goes…..!
Get it checked by someone with a decent diagnostic reader…..to see if any codes are there. FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current

Thanks
Yea I guess the lack of units is down to my ignorance. The mechanic was helpful and it sounds like he’s got decent testing software on his pc.
Without any adverse effects I’ll go back in a fortnight for a quick check, but Im going to France in October so would prefer to fix things while its on the doorstep rather than halfway down the A26 ….

Thanks

Id have thought even a cheap a ELM327 OBD reader from Amazon with free-ish blue tooth android app, such as TorquePro, should give you live fuel rail pressures. Jules

Thanks. Buying one and reading data would be a start but interpreting the output and then fixing it might be another.
That said do we have any recommendations for an OBD Bluetooth connector and a not too dear ios app that would do this job ?

Most of the Amazon adverts appear to tell me where they are not compatible with ….. or not suitable for …..
