Android Install

At present this is just a basic install, I need sat nav for a 140 mile journey I have not been on before

I did look at the Xtrons etc but dislike the idea of keeping the existing head unit

The plastic surround adapter is rubbish, expensive and needed a lot of chopping up

The Android unit was the cheapest I could find with proper Android Auto/Apple Car play and not just mirror link

No canbus installed, not bothered about the reserve beepers and never use steering wheel controls, these don't need an ignition live so have just wired the 2 lives together. Car previously had a reverse camera so I reused the video and signal cable

I need to redo the abomination that is the trailer socket bypass relay, that will be saved for another day

I have a lot of experience with Android units, my other car has a big Tesla style screen that needed a lot of setting up, it has HVAC, parking sensors, door alerts etc etc that all rely on the existing screens so had to get it working

Once this car proves reliable and passes an MOT I may upgrade the screen, happy with it for now

Good job you didn't have the MOST system, or you be rewiring all the speakers, and be fitting a sub amplifier. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, the daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.

I'd have got one with a MOST interface, did an install in a MOST car previously, used a bit of heat shrinked biro as the temporary bypass....

TBH the spec of this car suits my current needs, pre dpf, has the terrain stuff but basic audio/interior so simple head unit and manual seats
