Multiple errors on dash and car won't start

While nearly 100 miles from home, my car (MY2014 SD4 HSE Luxury) very suddenly decided that it didn't want to start and showed a number of faults on the dash which included:

Steering Column Lock
Park Brake
ABS
HDC
Stability Control

RAC took to a local garage who diagnosed the steering column lock module was at fault, but that they couldn't get hold of one.

Finally got the car brought home and now want to have a look myself. had top replace the battery as they had run it down so much it won't recharge.

I do not see how a steering lock fault can cause all the other faults so I am looking for something common to all.

Am going to try connectors and fuses in CJB/BCM but wondered if anyone had any thoughts?

Thanks

Dave

Could be bad earth but from my experience more likely just a dodgy battery…….the FL2is very sensitive to battery voltage……..if your battery looses thé charge because it’s faulty ( or à battery drain on system ) & voltage drops all the faults listed will be displayed……..& thé car will make no attempt to start.
So there may well be nothing wrong with the car …..test with new battery.
Had lots of problems with mine when 15 months old battery suddenly failed……replaced 6 weeks ago ok now…… FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current
D2 TD5 HSE Man MY 1999 470kmls….gone 2014 ….lovely engine..chassis rotten
D1 300TDI Man MY 1996 56kmls….gone 1999…D2 much better
Wife’s FL1 1.8P MY 2001 32kmls …gone 2007…has Mini since.

I have just fitted a new battery but still getting the errors - do I need to reset anything for the battery?

I am going to try resitting all plugs on BCM/CJB and check all the fuses tomorrow.

Any other thoughts/ideas gratefully received

Does your car start now you have fitted new battery?

If so, have you cleared existing codes and then tried reading again after a short test run?

Oxonpete is right when he says many random faults are often the fault of poor voltage supply during initialisation of electronic modules during cranking/starting.

The FL2 needs the biggest capacity battery that you can fit in the tray.

New battery fitted - and I got the biggest one I could but still nothing and lots of faults.

So next thing to try is to fix the steering lock module. Have ordered an emulator to see if that will sort the fault but if not, I may have to go down the replacement parts route.

I took all the fuses out and checked and cleaned them.
