Intermittent fault with cruise control

Freelander 2 hse, my08.
Strange issue with cruise control, sometimes it works perfectly, hold the on button for a few sections then set the speed, and it works. Other times, even on the same journey the cruise control won’t switch on (exactly same conditions) or will turn off if trying to change set speed via +/- . Other times it will just not turn on.
Note, this is when sat on duel carriageway/motorway at 50mph+ and all other steering controls work without issue.
Thoughts or suggestions…?

Highly likely to be the left switch module on the steering wheel, they are known to have issues... I had the same symptoms on mine - Cruise Control would either not engage - or if it did engage trying to reduce speed with the "-" button would cancel the cruise control...

If you can get a OBD scanner on the car you should see something simillar to this:-

I got mine working by beating the "+" switch close to death (petty frustration while driving) - it has been fine since, apart from once when the car had stood for 10 days while I was abroad - low battery voltage would not allow the cruise control to engage, second run out & it started working again - fine since...

...forgot to mention I still get the intermittent fault occuring - but Cruise Control still works so I have filed the issue in the "ignore, there are bigger problems to worry about" folder... Whistle

Good Luck!
