In my opinion, Evoques can look very smart with chunky all terrain tyres on and a lift kit Mr. Green.

I used to have a wonderful old family LR dealership which looked after me, but now it’s faceless mega-dealers who are hopeless, just like this 😢

I looked at the video that Jules quoted, and I agree with the lady's summing up.

These Main Dealers have got too large and complicated. Although all the employees of the dealer and their MANY associated sub contractors seem to be doing their best, I come to the conclusion that there is a lot of passing the buck between all the different parts of the organisations.

Twice recently the Main Dealer has failed to come up to my expectations.

The last time my car was in for service the Dealer failed to provide a Courtesy Car although I had booked it well in advance. In fact the booked service date was delayed to a point when a car was available.
What annoyed me was that they REPEATEDLY told me that I had not booked a car. I asked for the problem to be escalated to a manager, and they said that they did not retain records of the booking emails.
Luckily I found that I had a copy of calls on my phone and they then offered me a lift home (15 miles) and delivered my serviced & cleaned car back to me.

The other fiasco was some time ago when I had a Rear Diff changed under warranty.
I was sent from pillar to post with lack of spares, hire cars, etc. After being mucked around for over a week, I sent an email to the JLR CEO saying that all the chaos was being carried out under the JLR Banner, and appealing for his help to get someone to own the problem and stop just sending endless emails round and round the system.
He appointed one of the head office staff to lock at and monitor the problems.
It did not solve the lack of spares or suitable hire car, but I felt that things were moving and I was kept informed of when to expect actions.

I feel that in my 13 years of driving LR FL2s the JLR experience has gone down hill. The local Main Dealer has got a lot posher AND REMOTE. You used to be able to talk to the mechanics and their controllers.

It has put me off buying another JLR product.

In fact, come to think of it, most services are hiding behind Telephone and Website Help (customer-barrier) Desks.

So I am wary of other different makes Main Dealers who's prestigious shiny premises may dull once you have given them your hard earned money for your new(ish) car. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

My independent mechanic always shows me the container with parts changed. Not that there has been a lot. He makes life easy for me... which is reciprocal. Good decades long term relationship. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Have to agree with John É & IanMetro …..
We purchased a Disco 1 in 1995 from the family owned local LR Dealership in Stratford-upon-Avon….good service. Replaced with Disco 2 in 1999…..good service again. Wife had FL1 in 2001……ok was 1.8P….I didn’t like it but she did. Dealership sold-out to big country-wide / multiple makes outfit around 2003/4. Change of management coincided with wife calling in to new Dealership because car had overheated….half a mile away. They said they would investigate, dropped wife back home. They phoned next day to say problem was cylinder head…..à common fault. Thé car was 3yrs 4months old, 17k mls…out of warranty but they had spoken to LR who said they would pay for all parts. I wasn’t happy, with hindsight should have made a fuss. A few days later they phoned to say it needed a new water pump…..( that was the problem) & à big service…..on a time basis….. It was ready next day…could we collect the car & bring a cheque for £1560 !
Labour charges & service…..they wouldn’t release it without cheque……for full payment.
I am not saying thé Dealerships for other makes are any better…..but with JLR I think it’s a case of “if you can afford thé car you can afford to be ripped-off “
Repairs wise , if you can find a good Indy /mechanic with old school customer care mentality try & keep him happy, as Lightwater says…. FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current
D2 TD5 HSE Man MY 1999 470kmls….gone 2014 ….lovely engine..chassis rotten
D1 300TDI Man MY 1996 56kmls….gone 1999…D2 much better
Wife’s FL1 1.8P MY 2001 32kmls …gone 2007…has Mini since.
