brake problem on LR2

I notice the problem with my LR2 and below are the symptoms:

1. When the engine is off, the brake booster, which uses engine vacuum to assist with braking, is not active. This results in a stiffer brake pedal feel, but it should still be possible to depress the pedal to activate the brake lights. However, what I feel is not like this, I could press the brake easily

2. When car is running, it take deep pressed to stop the car and it's not instant stop. Sometime its little bit hard to press.

brake oil bleeding is done, no leakage feasible on brake master cylinder

Could it be faulty brake booster? How to test if this is faulty?
Or could it be something elase

The FL2 doesn’t use a vacuum assisted brake booster. The ‘abs’ pump does the pressurising and modulating of the various parts of the brake system. From your description I’d be looking for codes for abs pump failure when I scanned the car for faults.

The FL2 DOES have a vacuum operated brake booster (servo).

page 485 of the free JLR workshop

"For both the i6 gasoline and TD4 diesel engines, the vacuum required for brake booster operation is created by a vacuum pump mounted at the rear of the cylinder head. The vacuum pump is driven by the intake camshaft." Jules

Sorry I dont undersatnd what you mean by "no leakage feasible on brake master cylinder".

However
"1. When the engine is off, the brake booster, which uses engine vacuum to assist with braking, is not active. You should still be able to obtain a hard pedal with the engine off. Your description indicates to me a leak somewhere or more likely air in the system somewhere or a failed master cylinder.

If air has been allowed into the brake system as far up as the ABS unit then you will have problems getting the air out of the ABS unit and IIRC you need a computer to open internal valves to get the air out. Jules

I worry about the original posting.

As braking is important, if there is any defect that is not immediately solved, then profession help is needed.

In my experience the FL2 has very good brakes, and should be able to brake hard enough to bring the ABS System into action, again and again.

With engine running the Brake Pedal should be firm and consistent.

If not suspect Brake Master Cylinder, Brake Fluid, or Air in System. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

The Freelander 2 most definitely does have a vacuum brake booster, a very big one. The vacuum comes from the vacuum pump, which is on the gearbox side of the inlet cam. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

the issue is still persist and since I have 2 cars, I leave it stranded in garage for now.
Today try to take a look the issue and I notice when I press the brake I notice there is a hiss from the brake pedal, does it mean the brake booster is faulty?

Anyone has similar experience? it's worth to ask as I check the price of brake booster is not cheap Very Happy
