Easy Spec Upgrades?

Hi all!

I'm currently looking to buy a FL2, but my budget is low, and want to know how easy it is to install some of the higher spec features onto a base spec FL.

How much can be simply swapped out and plugged in? I believe heated seats can be plugged in, but how about the Alpine audio system?

It's all extra cost, so might as well go for a higher spec in the 1st place,
at least it should all be to a standard, some basic spec motors had extras added
from new, ie, wheels, tints, arm rests, winter pack etc. DAVE.

£4500 max at the minute, but I think i'm coming to terms with the fact I'm going to have to spend more to get something with a decent spec

The Freelander 2 came with a long list of upgrades so it is worth reading the adverts and looking at any available picture carefully. For example, quite often XS FL2s are specified nearly up to HSE standards.

The later (post 2011 facelift) models are generally better, and the SD4 Spec has a more powerful engine with an automatic box and seems the best driving experience.

Warning -- the FL2 is not cheap to buy a decent example and faults can be difficult and expensive.

BUT -- the FL2 has a great driving position and is very versatile, on and off roads.

The not cheap bit is what I'm learning now! I went to look at two, one was Cat N undiscolosed, and the other had a nackered auto box.

I'm not majorly fussed about having an automatic because of the ptential for gearbox and ECU issues, but seems they are by far the most common.

Blimey, when you said a "tight budget", I was expecting sub £2000.
There are plenty of Sd4 HSE's around of varying mileage for around your budget. Even the odd 2012-14 face-lifted models turn up from time to time sub 5K, but they;re usually snapped up pretty quickly.
The question is, what spec do you ultimately want and what model year are you looking at ?
What mileage are you looking at ? My brother's Sport LE was topping 200K when he part ex'd it for a RR Sport. From the condition of it, you'd never have guessed it was a high miler and it still pulled like a 50 thousand miles vehicle.
Found this from a dealer on Ebay. Sd4 HSE . Low miles at 67826
