Timing belt tensioner has moved….

Ok, on went the T belt, new tensioner, water pump etc, made adjustments, tightened up , rotated engine 10 times, all good, tensioner still showing in correct position. Back on with locking kit, on with new bolt, 70+82, on with bottom half of cover, renewed idler, tensioner and aux belt.
About to remove cam locking kit, decided just to check T tensioner……now moved….a long way…. Crying or Very sad

Do I adjust to correct position and lock off
Or
Strip the whole bloody thing down again, inc removing the now not new any longer bolt…

When turning engine over, nothing wrong, compression resistance only, no knock, grating etc…. I have a cunning plan.....!

All done!

Sweetest sound ever when pressing the start button and it just purrs…..

Two schoolboy errors putting back together….

Just about to get torque wrench on new crank bolt when something didn’t sit right….took me a while to realise I was looking at a nice shiney water pump..

I had not fitted the bottom timing belt cover!

Out with bolt, on with the cover, back on with the bolt. Torqued to 70 +82.

All going well, lifted up under engine protection cover….and found this ‘spare part’hiding underneath…..

Can you guess what it is, I had no Censored idea, but knew I had seen it in a video….so off to trawl you tube history file…..

Turns out it sits behind the start motor, which as you all know is sooooo easy to get off and on, especially that cheeky little bottom bolt…

Off it came again, along with some more knuckle / forearm skin, in wheat the ‘spare part’.

So. Now enjoying a well earned…

Next job?

Light the BBQ Thumbs Up

Since thanks to those who have helped with advice, knowledge and encouragement, hopefully I can repay the favour some day, I have a cunning plan.....!

Well done they can be a nightmare sometimes, that is why this time round, as i needed to do both my FL2's i got a local chap Tom to do them.

I already had the belt kits for both Gates.

He did both in about 3hrs cost was £200 per FL and i didn't have to lift a finger.

After a few days on of the FL2 just didn't feel right contacted Tom, it took him 2 days to come back out and double check it.

Since then both have been fine.

Any with a FL2 or any other LD close to Staffordshire he is worth given a look up or have him do the job or any other jobs he only works on Landrovers.
