Another one for going cold turkey. It is very unpleasant for a couple of months but totally worth it. Yes you are avoiding the horrible stuff in normal fags but you are still using an addictive substance and paying financially for it.

Think of the FL2 parts and repairs you could fund by not smoking/vaping. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Re: Anybody vaping on here?

Hey mate,
Yeah, I’m into vaping—been at it a couple of years now. Switched over from the cigs and haven’t looked back. Definitely better on the lungs (and the car interior smells a lot nicer too 😅).

I mostly go for pod kits these days—easy to carry and no mess. What about you? Just curious, or thinking of giving it a try? Would be great to hear what others on here are using too. Never thought vaping would pop up on a Freelander forum, but hey, always good to chat!

Cheers,
Vapeaah

Whilst vapes are a boon for established smokers wanting to give up their addiction to cigarettes, it should not be forgotten that vapes are themselves addictive (nicotine being one of the most addictive substances known to man). Look at the problems schools are having with vaping kids.

Also, there is now doubt that the manufacturers have gone out of their way to develop a product specifically designed to ensnare the young population (with colourful boxes and enticing flavours) and raise a future generation of addicts. They have even captured children who in all probability would have never smoked a cigarette.
I find the actions of these companies morally reprehensible.

There is also growing evidence that regular vaping at a young age does harm young lungs. These devices are not harmless.

I wish you the best of luck in giving up your addiction to nicotine.

I was lucky; I meet a woman who didnt smoke, which caused me to want to stop, forever.

My dad was a heavy smoker. One night at a prize giving, a good friend died in front of him from a heart attack. Like my dad he was only 40. My dad never ever smoked again. He's 93 now, widower, lives alone, still drives, plays snooker and loves gardening. Jules

Don't give up giving up...

... I gave up about 18 years ago. The hardest thing initially for me was resisting the 'need' at my regular lighting up places - places like a particular point on the drive to or from the office mainly. That soon changed to the problem of being unable to see myself being a non smoker forever more.

Perseverence paid off as very quickly, I reached a point where smoke of any kind made me feel as though I was suffocating, smokers started to smell like old ash trays and the desire for a cigarette vanished completely. Nowadays I still dislike smoke - tobacco, bonfire, exhaust etc and I'll always go upwind or elsewhere to avoid it and I have never ever wanted to smoke again since those first few weeks.

No vapes available then either - my healthcare centre gave me patches and gum but I couldn't get on with them so they were soon abandoned. Maybe the time was right for me but after the initial 'cravings' it was much easier than I'd imagined it might be. Stick with it. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Having never smoked myself, my mate has told me giving up smoking is easy, he has done it loads of times.😆
Good luck

Try Googling 'Nicotine as a nerve agent absorbed through the skin'

It doesn't look a healthy substance. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 82k+ miles) (MY2015)

Quit the fags a few years ago. Started vaping instead. First vape !liquid was 18mg nicotine. Now down to 3mg. Next stop O mg. Then quit the vape. Each to their own...... But it has helped me. Good luck.

Thats one reason why doctors approve of vapes generally - you can reduce the nicotine addiction; slowly reducing the dose - not something you can do with fags easily. Jules
