Car Play

Has anyone found a Carplay or similar type device / Dongal that you can plug into the USB connection that will display your phone screen on the cars display. As I understand it the Freelander set up isn't compatible with this? 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

No, there's no way to add car play or android auto to the factory system.
A simple and cheap USB bluetooth device that plugs into the AUX socket is all that can be done.
Had one on mine, and it worked fine, but all track control has to be done on the phone. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thanks for the info, I suspected as much but wondered if anyone had found something?
Re the bluetooth dongle, is that any different to just connecting your phone via a USB cable ? 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

I think for what your asking I think you would need to do a satnav/screen change to replace it with either an 'I' or an Android version and actually run the carplay app which would duplicate your phone on the screen.

I put one in mine, sorry can't remember the brand (Age) but I have mentioned it on the forum.
Install was simple but I can't comment on how the carplay app works with it as I kept it as a stand alone unit with its own data sim.
I only run google maps, Spotify and Youtube, a couple of times.

Plenty on the forum about screen changes to a android screen. Look at my posts you wil pick a start up from there, search Youtube for Freelander 2 android head units.

What Mel said Cool

If you have the larger factory screen (for what it's worth, I have no idea if there was a smaller one on the 2013 models; but I've seen smaller ones on the pre-facelift) but anyway, if you have the larger screen then I can recommend the CARABC option for minimal cost...

Screenshots from hfinlay10 there, followed by me asking questions because my mechanic didn't fit it correctly to start with (not his fault, there's effectively no installation instructions!).
