France 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

I finally got round to doing mine over the weekend. All good but now need to recalibrate the air path / throttle body as codes P0403-71 and P0405-77 have come back.
I have the MaxiAP200 diagnostic tool which has the service function 'throttle' which says it initialises the throttle actuators for ECU learning values, but no mention of EGR replacement. Just wandering if this function is the correct one and can anyone confirm if they had success using it post EGR replacement?

Just took a step into the unknown thinking what could possibly go wrong!!
The 'throttle' service function on the AP200 does indeed include EGR reset but isn't apparent in the description before launching the process. It reinitialies the throttle body, turbo and then EGR in consecutive steps with ignition on but engine not running.
What a difference it has made, smoother more responsive pick up through entire rev range in all gears.
Thanks again to Jules and all who contributed. It was a tw@t of a job to be honest and took me around 8 hours having never removed secondary bulkhead before.
Now onto investigating the metalic chinking noise from all four corners when going over bumpy terrain..!

It is enough to programmatically disable the EGR and you don't have to dismantle it. //t.me/LRClan

Read with interest. I had mine come up with EGR messages around 90,000 miles so put a bottle of EGR cleaner through it and reset the codes. Been fine since. I put a bottle through every 10,000 miles or so and no further problems touch wood !! Now on 135,000

@Vintagecat

Where and when do you actually insert the EGR cleaner stuff ?

I guess for best effect you have to use it when the EGR valve is maximally open ie engine hot and idling. Jules

Some useful info about EGR function

https://vehiclefreak.com/when-does-the-egr...s-purpose/

I always thought the throttle valve in a diesel was only there to smooth engine shutdown, but ...

"all diesel engines with an EGR valve have a throttle valve that they usually don’t need. The reason for that is when the ECU determines it needs to introduce exhaust gasses to the cylinders; it has to block the intake by the same amount the EGR opens. Otherwise, the engine would likely stall when the EGR opens because that would lean out the air/fuel mixture. " Jules

@Jules

Hi

You spray it into the air intake pipe with it disconnected from the air box with the engine warm and idling. Use short bursts allowing the engine to recover revs between bursts. I normally put half a can at a time through a couple of days apart when I change the oil and filter.
