Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Hi all,

No intention of hijacking this thread, but guess its ok to ask PAS related issues here!?

For a few months ago, mine (-07) started to generate a PAS whine when warm. Mileage now 225.000 miles.
Reservoir and fluid was replaced 4-5 years ago as a precautionary action due to what I had read.
I replaced the PAS pump with a good used one and flushed and replaced the PAS fluid. I also cleaned out the reservoir. All fine then.

Now, the system has started again to generate a PAS Whine when warmed up. Not as bad as last time but guess it will develop. PAS fluid looks foamy. Steering feels normal and OK.

So, what would be the next reasonable step? For what I am reading, in general, foaming is 90% caused by air leak on the suction side. I can not find any visible leaks at the moment. So I guessing reservoir or/and lines might be a place to start?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile

Check on the roundness of the hose clip at the reservoir pipe connection

A new reservoir is inexpensive, easy to install and has its own clean internal filter. Jules

Seems like a good place to start. Will order a new reservoir.

I checked all tubes yesterday, but could not see anything obvious. I cleaned them thoroughly and will monitor for dampness.
There is a microscopic dampness on the pressure hose from the PAS pump where the rubber hose is crimped to the metal end. It has been like that for years. Cleaned and will be monitored.
