Any recommended replacement for LR007243 glovebox damper apart from original part?

Difficult.
JLR now want an absurd amount for this part.

I believe it was also used on a Ford Mondeo circa 2007 but I've not been able to find the relevant Ford part number.

The black end cap on mine came away from the main grey tube, but the actual fixing bracket, that unclips, was intact.
They seem to be made of dissimilar plastics and I couldnt find a glue that held them back to together.
In the end I made a crude weld with a hot glue gun - looks awful but is out of sight and works.

There are cheaper alternatives from the PRC available on the Bay of E. I have no idea of the quality / longevity - but they can't be much worse than the original...

Mine is missing the clip from the top of the damper, which holds the damper to the side of the Glovebox. That meant the damper could free itself from the glovebox. I used a heavy duty elastic band to hold it in place - has been fine for 6 months. I know others have used R-clips to the same effect.

Better for sale as unobtainable.... 😉 Previously a 2006 FR2 Diesel manual, now 2006 FR2 Petrol auto and a Series 3 109 SW.
