Swapped out rear diff and rear O/S bearing (surprisingly easy jobs with no seized bolts).

Just keep uncovering more new noises to address! Moving on to the rest of the bearings Corrado VR6 Mystic Blue - Gone

Took the glove box damper out as it had gone sloppy, not damping. Cleaned it with tape head cleaner, (isp), and made a little bit of spongy foam around the inside of the cylinder to soften it a bit when bottoming out.
As the hook broke off despite being really careful, when testing, I drilled a small hole through the positioning tap and used a new VW (ha ha) "R"-clip to secure it with. Really easy to undo and reinstall and works perfectly.
Land Rover can FORGET about 154 gbp + postage and tax and what not, for a new one. This works for another 18 years.

Cheers,
Redfox.

Finally got the remaining piano black trim for the glove box, so installed that and all of it is now installed and looking really good, consisting of 4 inner door handles, 2 steering wheel button trim and 3 pieces for the dash board, all piano black. Elegant and stylish and suits my idea of the facelift front bumper with a piano black grille edging and ditto on the facelifted rear hatch handle.

Hmm... What to do now? Maybe some black leather on the whole dash board?
Did anyone do that so maybe they could give a hint or two about the result?

Kind regards,
Redfox

The black looks good with the Firenze red.
Best colour combo imo. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I booked it in for a full service and gearbox flush.
Also replaced both keys as the old ones after 14 years were not holding charge

Some sunny day, a little while ago, a small metal part of what looked like a spring, landed on the drivers floor mat. Hmm... Looks like a part of the spring inside the Gear knob for the action button. And yes, it did sink in and gear lever could now be changed under all situations. Not secure, so went to Land Rover to order a new spring. Not available, only as a complete gear knob.
As ours is looking fine for a looong while still, I declined the offer.
A quick search on fleabay, brought a few hits, for example this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/395808945291

At a measely 1,5 eur, I ordered a few of them, as import (t)ax handling is very expensive at 19 gbp.
Decided to take off the gear stick cover plate with it's diodes, the gearlever at neutral and pull it, turn the white nylon cap underneath the leather a bit, so it releases, and bring it in the office to my desk.

Here, the remaining part fell out.
I had to remove the button, by inserting a small flat bladed screwdriver on to the very top of the gear know and twist it out, Easy peasy and no marks.

Then I just inserted a new one. Press the two tongues together a bit and slide it right in at the top. See picture.

Make sure the lower positioned white nylon thingie inside the gear know is flipped outwards and kind of holds it's position by itself, while you click the activation knob back on.
Then reinstall and test. Works well and saved you some 90 gbp.

Kind regards,
Redfox.
