Hi, i need to replace the front suspension arms (wishbones) on my FL2.
According to Haynes manual it says you have to disconnect the driveshaft from the hub, is this nessasary? never had to do this on other cars. Also is job possible with a regular trolley jack and axel stands or does the car need to be high so there is enough room to drop the arms.
If its a big hassel i will let a garage do it, would be an easy job with the right lifting equipment, but if possible i like to do my own work.

There's no need to remove the drive shaft from the hub on this vehicle, except maybe for some additional space for the nut. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

The JLR workshop manual says partially release front half shaft from wheel knuckle.
Pg 207-210

Not sure why - maybe to give access to the ball-joint nut which needs an allen key from the top to stop the bolt rotating - judging by the pics.

Have you got the free JLR manual ? (better than Haynes IMO)

You don’t need to touch the drive shaft, the biggest headache for me was releasing the ball joint after that the rest is simple I have done it. Just make sure your car is jacked up and supported well as you will be grovelling underneath it.
