United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Firenze Red

I thought that the FL2 Diesel engine was developed from a French PSA engine.

If so I have no complaints.

Quite right as I understand. PSA & Ford, developed the engine, Ford using it in the Transit and Mondeo.
As Ford also owned JLR at the time it was used in Freelander.
The French do know how to build Diesel engines. On another subject there seems to be some confusion on who supplied the Automatic transmission, which is an. AWF 21- Aisin, that is very well matched to the engine and very reliable providing you do change the fluid every 3 years.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Rimini Red

From what I've found on the DW12, it's a PSA engine, Ford's input was probably financial and technical, rather than in the manufacturing process.
There's nothing typically Ford about the actual engine, the head, block, crank, valve train is all typical PSA.
The valve train is identical to PSA engines of the early 2000s.

Many components are marked with both the PSA and FoMoCo names, but I suspect this is more for part recognition in the dealers than anything else. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
Hyundai Ionic 5 Ultimate on order.
Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE.

Am I the only person hankering after the days when autoboxes had dipsticks? So much easier than all the messing about under the car you have to do now. Jules

Jules, no, you are not. My Disco1 had a dipstick for auto.
Was very surprised that the D2 didn’t,.
As one who checks all levels weekly ,not being able to check auto box annoys me very much.
