£70k is not a bad price for a ‘23 RR sport

When l bought my Kodiaq (May 2021), l’d just received my renewal for the Octavia estate (‘11’ plate, 1.6TDi - remapped) at, from memory, £221 F/C
The garage gave 5 days cover, to allow for sorting insurance out

I expected a huge hike in premium, due to comparative age/values
No, they wanted an extra £6!!!!

Sadly the following year it went up, by about £30

Last year, the renewal had increased by 30%, with no claims by me/against me

I managed to get f/c elsewhere for £230 (inc driving other vehicles,& still keeping named driver)

Who knows, when it’s up for renewal this year??!

March renewal gone up by £200 to £476. All comparison sites come in at similar figures so the best I can get after a haggle was £432. No accidents or convictions and 20y ncb. Insurance companies don't like LR . Strangely taking wife off the cover increases the premiums across the board. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Re the insurance being a different price with or without your wife being on the policy mine was cheaper still if I said it was parked on the drive and not in the garage, go figure.
When asked they said there was more chance of damage driving it into the garage than leaving it on the drive!

My insurer said that it was to do with the unavailability/cost of parts that is driving the insurance costs up. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black

If parts take longer to obtain then the insurance company would be paying for a hire car for longer plus storage fees for the wreck at the garage. Probably goes towards increasing costs and writing off cars more quickly.

I suppose it depends on the outcome of the secret talks between the British Insurers Association and the Houthis

While this may be true, it doesn't take into account the reduced desirability of the car. Very few people want to nick a FL2. If the insurance companies were playing fair, they would let it balance out, but that would mean less profit.

The BBC on their breakfast show (around 2 weeks back)
had done a survey of quotes* from different providers
in different areas and found the higher quotes
where all in areas where the ethnic count was highest,
even areas in a close proximety (3 miles) could vary by as much as
£300.
