Be aware that the infotainment modules pass information via the M.O.S.T. fibreoptic ring.
Any break in this, either physical, or electronic (ie dead module) will cause problems in other modules.
Some modules are in the boot (Bluetooth for example).

When I read all the technical electronics problems cars have today I admit to wishing for an old 80,s diesel mercedes with wind down windows and nothing complicated.

Ive been reading on https://www.facebook.com/groups/Freelander2Owners

- someone had a similar problem - they replaced the bluetooth module that resides in the boot.

I'm guessing the "click" that the OP heard in the boot was the bluetooth module going kaput. Jules

Maybe one of the modules suffered from temporary data corruption, which was cleared when the the code reader accessed the modules memory? Just a theory of course. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
