England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Lago Grey

Recently had my renewal which was up £200 over last year, but I've just been on one of the well known comparison sites and got the same level of cover for £220 less, so actually £20 less than I paid last year.

The only one difference is a lower annual mileage which obviously lessens the risk. I checked the mileage between MOT's and added a bit for good measure. So now 8000 from 12000 miles per year.

As a bonus, the comparison site is offering rewards, one of which is Shell fuel vouchers to the value of £20 and as I sorted both car policies, I should have £40 to come...

Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

2010 HSE auto,
I am now 82 and last year my insurance went up to £552. That was with Directline and after a call and got a wee reduction.
Had tried most comparison sites. Live in rural area, garaged off road in carport, annual mileage 5000.
Pay towards windscreen and voluntary of £400 excess.
Clean licence and 40 years plus NCB
Really not looking forward to my renewal in June.
Also rumours of roadtax going up by 10%.
Really cannot do without the car. SWMBO is partly disabled and the Freelander is perfect for us.
Has anyone thought about just going for TPFT and taking the chance.? Jim A

I don’t think nowadays there is much difference between fully comp and third party fire and a prayer.

Yes the difference in cost between Fully Comp and Third Party Fire and Theft isn't much really.

However I can remember when Fully Comp was what it says on the tin.

Just had a renewal quote from my current insurer, Halifax. Gone up from £198 to £425 Shocked

(Fully Comp, no claims, no convictions, 6K miles/year, garaged, SDP only, both drivers retired - 64, rural location).

Lets see what the Meerkats can find. Jules

Consider yourselves lucky - I had an email from my insurance saying they weren't able to renew my insurance - currently with Hastings.
They said due to the type of car I drive etc, etc, they wouldn't renew this year.

This is a general LandRover problem stemming from Range Rover thefts in London and spilling out to other parts of the brand. Apparently people are cancelling orders for new cars who can't get their cars insured in places like London and Manchester and some other cities. My last FL2 was £350 and my DS is £630 and lucky to get it insured for less than £1K even in rural Dorset. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Selling anything after Xmas is never going to get a good price as there will be loads of people who have overspent at Xmas looking to raise money. Also retail businesses always seem to make redundancy around Xmas , poor sales , rent due etc. Then throw a falling market at the moment in the car trade it’s understandable that nobody is going to offer much for something that could be worth even less in a month.

The insurance companies have now been given a green light to exploit Land/Range Rover owners thus driving down vehicle values Censored I can understand the latest high value L/R R/R’s insurance going up as they are the problem 🤮
