New SUV designs

Well, are,nt the shape of our Freelanders becoming so modern.
After years of very rounded cars look at the latest models coming through.
Since JLR brought out the “new” Defender with its box shape look at how many other manufacturers are now following suit.
Copying the best is very prevalent.
As I said, our Freelanders are up there with the best of 2024 models.
Long live the Freelander2. Jim A

The FL2 was DESIGN'ed by a team of FORD engineers, when Ford owned AM,JAG and LR.

3landertwo is right.
Just look at the American Police SUVs as shown on the TV.

I like the simplicity of the design, I feel that the latest car designs have too many unnecessary folds and curves. An example of fashion ruling functionality.

I am at the moment suffering the impracticality (for the older generation) of a hire auto Mercedes CLA 200 Estate, its a lovely smooth driving car, but is almost impossible to get in and out.

We long for our FL2 to be returned to us with it's new Rear Diff. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Not only are others catching up to the Freelander's modern design, because it was the last & basically in principle only one model. The designers simply could not improve upon perfection!

Even the Range Rover dates quicker than they can stamp them out.

I have noticed of late that there seems to be more Freelanders around. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The point i was making that many carmakers seem to be copying the Defender design.
After all moving to rounded shapes, including JLR.
Freelander 2 with its good old fashioned shape is still up there .
One of my neighbours recently commented on how good the Freelander looked and wouldn't believe it was 14 years old.. Intend to keep it running till nothing left.

Assuming it does actually have some off-road capability, I wonder what the range is off-roading in low ratio with all the extra clobber attached ? Jules
