Converting Webasto fuel burning heater to parking heater?

I have a Land Rover Freelander II 2.2 Td4 from 2009. It is a Swedish-sold car with Webasto Fuel Burning Heater. I wonder if I can convert the FBH to a parking heater with the Webasto W-Bus Function Remote Module like this one and without upgrading the car's CCF and the firmwares?

In other words, just connect W-bus out to pin 2 on Webasto and -12v and +12v.

Asking because it's getting cold in Sweden and it will get colder Smile

Short answer: no.

The firmware from factory will not accept any start command besides the one from engine. Neither digital (W-Bus), nor analog (12V On/Off).
Therefore you need to update the heater's firmware in order to accept such commands.
After that it's easy to add a Telestart T90/T91, also from Webasto, to remotely start it.

Or you can install a device that knows to talk W-Bus with the heater in order to start it.

By contrast, Disco 3/4 comes from factory with heaters that have enabled external commands. Frell2, doesn't.

No, you just need to take that daring step and go to someone who can update your heater and engine data.
10 minutes job and then you can install whatever heater starter you want.
Believe me, your engine will thank you a lot... Laughing

Agree, you can hear the engine screaming Smile Live in northern Sweden and the nearest Land Rover dealer is 650km from here.

Update.

Emailed Land Rover and asked if they can enable "Add Telestart Diesel Engine Pre-Heat" but they are not responding, will try to call them next week.

In the meantime I have ordered the 12V remote starter (£45) and fitted it. Wired 12V activation to PIN 1. I can measure that it sends 12V when I press the remote, but as Alex already said, nothing happens until the firmware is updated.

Freelander starts up to -26 celsius, but I think below that it will be difficult:

Hi,
I've said "After that it's easy to add a Telestart T90/T91, also from Webasto, to remotely start it."
I didn't said that will work with a 12V signal.
From my knowledge, after enabling Telestart, you can talk with the heater only through a W-Bus capable device. In fact I've also mentioned this: "...a device that knows to talk W-Bus..."
So, unless I am mistaking, that plain an simple 12V on pin 1 will not work...
