G/box fluid change

After borrowing a couple of extensions so I could get the filler plug off so I could change the auto box oil
I preceded to get this done.
Did 3 changes with the last staying in the beast following this bloke in his volvo.

The first drop there was a hint of red through the oil,the next change was an improvement and the last one was definatly an improvement.Took it for a short drive not going over 40 to get temp up to 60 and let the excess drain out so I'm good for 40000k's. I only do roughly 10000k's per year so I think every 4 years will be better for the box than 10 years.
My nephew who had it before me,he was only driving it around the Gold Coast and didnt really do much country driving, mostly stop start as that is the way of the traffic there now.
As I live on the north coast of Tassie I can at least stretch its legs every few days when I go out and about so it will get a decent run.

Great video that. Do we need to reset any counter to say its been changed on the FL2 or is that just a volvo thing and is there any other way of checking trans fluid temp if you dont have diagnostic set up?

I didnt really find it that difficult, its much better than the early RR TD6.
Once I was set up, I think it took me 2 hrs or so to do and that is with taking some breaks inbetween
emptying and filling.

Chrism551,
I didnt do anything after I changed the fluid.Went for a drive this morning and except for 4th gear taking a few extra seconds to take up properly it all went well.

cheers
